Child Population (As Per 3-14
Survey) :
The
survey conducted of
3-14 age group of children by department of education shows the
following.
3-5 Age Group Children:
The
survey shows there are about 84343 children who are of age 3-5 age group and are
yet to be admitted to the schools in coming years of 2003-04 and 2004-05. The
table shows the detail blocks wise children who attain PPS and the children not
availing PPS facility.

The above table shows 76.13% of children in the district are
getting PPS facility. 86.27% of children in Badami Block which is more in the
district, in Jamakhandi block 60.76% of children are getting PPS facility which
is low in the district.

There are about 292375 children are of age 6-14 age group.
The above table shows there are 77.58% children are of age group 6-11 and 23.42%
children are of age 12-14. Jamakhandi block is having more number of children in
the district with 24.28% and the Bilagi block is having less number of children
with 8.56%.

88.33% of the children are attending school and out of school children
percentage is 11.67%. In case of the girls the percentage of school going
children is less as compared to boys. The percentage of girls is more than boys
in case of out of school children.

50 habitations are having less than 200 populations out of 76 Unserved
habitations. 93.32 percentage of
habitations are covered with schooling facility and 6.68 percentage of
habitations are not covered with schooling facility. 52.33% of habitations
uncovered with 8th std facility.
The district has overall access ratio of 93.32% with lower primary
school available within 1 KM and 84.90% with higher primary schools within 3 KM.
Hungund block is having high access ratio of 98.58% and Jamkhandi is having low
access ratio of 84.98%. Jamakhandi block is still uncovered with 15.02% of
habitations with LPS and 27.09% with HPS.Where as Hungund is having less habitations to
be covered with 1.42% of LPS and 4.27% of HPS. The district has 596 habitations
not covered with 8th std within 5 km. and the
access ratio of 8th std is 52.33%.
School Facilities :
The table below gives the number of elementary educational
institutions in
the
district. The number of government upper primary schools includes the
HPS sections in the high school and the junior colleges.

The district has 9.41% Urdu linguistic minority schools and 0.45% Marathi schools which cater the needs of linguistic minority population imparting education in their mother tongue.

100% Teacher are trained. 662 teacher post are vacant, more vacant post
are in Jamakhandi block.
As per the norms the female teachers should be 50%, but the
district has only 38% share of the overall teachers. Bilagi block is very low
with 22% and Bagalkot block is high with 46%.

District has still 31 single teacher schools It is high in Mudhol
and Jamakhandi. Hungund block is not having single teacher schools.
There are 2.77%,20.89%,16.52% and 11.07% of schools are with
one, two, three and four teachers respectively. Mudhol block is having more no.
single teachers with 4.92 %. Jamakhandi is having more number of two teacher
schools with 28.70%.

The PTR in jamakhandi and Mudhol is 48 and 46 respectively.
In Bagalkot and Hungund the PTR is 36 and 38 respectively. Pupil teachers ratio
is more than state norm, to maintain quality in education, the district need
more teachers.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITY :
The EMIS gives the detail infrastructure facilities
available in the school of the district such as water, toilet and building.

Please refer format no. 11 and 12 for the bifurcation of schooling
facility in LPS
and HPS.
57.68% schools having drinking water facility. 11.88% of schools having
toilet facility, 32.23% of schools having electricity facility, 42.86% of
schools having boundary wall, 86.88% of schools having Own building and 57.95%
of schools having play ground facility. Providing above facilities it may help in increasing retention
rate, especially for girls retention toilet is very essential.

The above table reveals that the teacher class room ratio in primary
school s of the district is 1: 0.77. Hence there is need of additional class
rooms.
